Commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, Hugh served one year in Korea, promoted to Captain, served eight months in Kuwait/Afghanistan, promoted to Major, and served one year in Iraq.
Hugh was wounded by an IED when he left his vehicle during operations in Iraq. The projectile entered his helmet and creased his skull, requiring 11 stitches. As the head wound bled profusely, Hugh on the way to the hospital said he prayed that he would live for his family; Regina, his wife, and his three children, Michael, Megan and Kevin.
His head wound required 11 stitches, a permanent scar, and he received a Purple Heart. He recovered quickly and continued to serve his tour in Iraq.
Hugh was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and is presently assigned to the Inspector General’s Office in Washington, DC. Hugh and his family have a home in Fairfax Station, Virginia.
